Here is a chronicle of our adventures on the road to Colorado
Day One, Thursday February 3rd:
We had a few visitors before we left. Grandpa came over to give Lana her Chinese New Years Gift, Thanks Grandpa. Then Grandma came over to play with Lana and join us for dinner.
Gigi and Grandpa came over later and brought seafood gumbo, Yum! Lana had fun playing with Grandpa's glasses and saying cheese for the camera. It is her new thing and soo cute!
We left our home in League City about 8:45 pm. Driving was fine until we were about an hour south of Dallas, the road conditions got worse by the minute. We were driving on ice and snow covered roads and it was snowing, sometimes so much it was difficult to see. Alex handled the roads as best he could, thank goodness we have 4 wheel drive on our Xterra.
There were a few reality checks along the way. We started to slide on the road and went across a grassy median onto the feeder road. We just went with it and made it across fine, but I was expecting us to get stuck in a snow drift. Lana slept through the whole ordeal and we cautiously went on. As we got closer to Ft. Worth we got on a large 3 lane highway and then the sliding began again, to the left, then to the right, left, and right, then we got back in control, phew. We kept our cool and kept driving till about 5 am when we reached Wichita Falls, TX. We got a hotel and slept in.
